After an eventful gap of 7 years since the last Get Together, the battle procedure to organize the 2024 edition of the School Alumni Get Together started in the right earnest on 26 Feb 2024 with the first WhatsApp message. The team remains the same, Rajiv Tewari (1985 Batch) & Atul Pandey (1984 Batch). The response from Alumni was along the predictable lines; ranging from excitement and exuberance to lukewarm and non-committal. May be we were a little too optimistic in the beginning, keeping in mind the long gap since the last Get Together. It required a lot cajoling and coaxing in our attempt to get a strength that would make the event, a financially viable one. And we would have achieved that figure, had those 25 Alumni, who had initially confirmed their attendance, not backed out after we had committed to the others that the 2024 edition of Alumni Get Together IS HAPPENING.
Anyway, the event was scheduled for 06 Apr 2024, the 1st Saturday of the month of April, as has been the convention. The venue chosen this time was a Resort behind the Rock Garden, a beautiful and peaceful location with lovely ambience, especially at night. Some pictures of the venue have been shared below. As a run up to the event, we had extended invitations to a substantial number of our revered Teachers. Most of them were as excited as us and were keen to attend. And despite the age related problems and traveling issues, quite a few of them did grace the evening. Kranti ma'am attended the event for the first time. In fact, we were also lucky to celebrate the Birthday of Chanchal Singh Sir. As a sweet surprise, one batch even brought in a small cake for the ceremonial cake cutting. We are sanguine that we will be able to have the blessings of more teachers in future.
This time the attendees ranged from 1975 batch to 1999 batch, spanning nearly quarter of a century. Though we fell short of becoming Y2K compliant, next time we hope to achieve that feat also.😄
The Alumni arrived in high spirits and the party started in time. For many Alumni it was their first time attending the meet and therefore their excitement was at a different level. The Alumni interacted not only with their respective batch mates but also with the other batches & Teachers. We also paid homage to our Teachers and Alumni who are not with us having left for their Heavenly Abode since the last Get Together. From the responses received after the event, the evening went off quite well. We know that a lot of scope still remains for improvement and we hope that in future, instead of the two lone Rangers (Rajiv Tewari & Self), there will be more volunteer helping hands to organize the event better. Also, it would do us good if the fence sitters make up their minds well in time so that the organizers have a clear picture about the financial status of the event. For exactly this reason, this time we could not give any souvenirs to the attending Alumni. However, one of our Alumni Pardeep Aggarwal (1984 Batch) did arrange for a small memorabilia to be gifted to the Alumni attending the Get Together. The festivities continued till midnight and everyone was visibly enjoying the Get Together.
